Fun With SnacLite’s Power PB - "The Elvis Sandwich"
Jun 28th, 2007 by Kaiser

If you read my last post you know about the importance of healthy fat by now -
I’ve brought you a couple of easy ways to put that knowledge to use.
Here are two quick 5 minute recipes using Power PB by SnacLite - these are real convenient, tasty meals for people on the go, not some fancy food channel crap that you’ll never make in your life.
These meals are both perfect as a a pre-workout meal, ideally 1 1/2 hours before your workout, or as a post workout meal, approximately 1 hour after your post-workout drink.
Peanut Butter and Banana Sandwich:
To some of you this might sound a little strange, but just make it once and try it and you’ll be in love. IN fact, the PB/Banana combo was Elvis’s favorite sandwich. Although the King wasn’t known for healthy eating, we can make a few minor changes to the recipe to get it working for us. All you need is the Power PB, half a banana, and whole-wheat bread. For mine I used low-carb bread, and here’s what the nutritional info looked like:
1 tablspoon power pb
1/2 of a small banana
2 slices Arnold Bakery Light
220 calories, 5.5 fat, 36 carbs, 12 protein.
Remember that all the fat is the healthy type that I want to eat, and most of the carbs from the bread are fiber, and are therefore not digested.
GoHard! Oatmeal With Raisins
This is one of my favorites, an excellent way to get slow-digesting carbs before your workout or as a filling meal. I use my protein scooper to measure out the oatmeal, using exactly 2 scoops, and used casein (slower digesting) protein powder in this example:
45 grams of oatmeal
1 scoop casein powder
20 grams cranberry raisin mix
1 tablspoon power pb
430 calories, 8.5 fat, 54 carbs, 34 protein
If the calories in the oatmeal sound like too much for you , you can always use just 1 1/2 scoops of oats and eliminate the raisins.
I’m sure all of you will enjoy these quickies, and they’re so simple you have no excuse not to try them! And I’ll be bringing you more quick and delicious ways to stay on your diet so stay tuned!
